The values for font-weight can be defined with numbers ranging from 100 to 900. 100 is the lightest or thinnest of the fonts, and 900 is the darkest or thickest.

WEIGHT is an attempt by Netscape to allow for degrees of boldness. However, even Netscape no longer supports this attribute. However, youcan set degrees of boldness using styles. See Font Weight. WEIGHT accepts a range from 100 to 900 in multiples of 100. So, for example, 450 would not work because it is not a multiple of 100.
